The Funen Sea tables are a unique collection of limited editions pieces, all made from wood sourced from the little harbour servicing the islands of Als and Aero.
Each table has been numbered, confirming its position in the family and we have taken our time to get to know each table, ensuring that they are all documented and photographed thoroughly.
Take a closer look, and you will see why this is one of our favourite projects to date.
Once the seat of the Viking raiders, the Kingdom of Denmark is made up of over 400 islands, many connected by small ferry routes. In the south of the country, two small islands, Als and Aero have been connected by ferries sailing from the Funen Sea harbour. For decades, the bulwark has served in the harbour, partially submerged in the Danish sea, taking a beating from the passing ferries, the ice cold salt water, sun and wind.
The small harbour could no longer serve the larger ferries, and renovations have meant that the bulwark has served its purpose for now. Like many times before, we have reclaimed the wood planks from the bulwark for the purpose of Upcycling. The planks that we have reclaimed from from the Funen Sea harbour have unique dimensions, and after decades of exposure to the harsh elements, they have, without a doubt, some of the most breathtaking historic details that we have seen to date.
We felt compelled to transform these planks in to something very special, and have created an exclusive family of 12 limited edition tables, each one exquisitely unique. Each table has been numbered, confirming its position in the family and we have taken our time to get to know each table, ensuring that they are all documented and photographed thoroughly.
Each table has unique details, but similar size. They are 1,0 x 2,6m in size, and all with a rustic surface.
