There are two surface finish type for most of the tables we make: Sanded and Rustic.
Rusitic Azobé planks are the first cut we make from the large pillars that we collect in the decommissioned Danish harbours. They include rustic detail from over 60 years partially submerged in the Danish sea. They are hand sanded, so that we can maintain as much of the beautiful patina as possible, letting the tables tell their own special story.
Sanded Azobé Planks are cut from the inside of the large pillars that we collect in the decommissioned Danish harbours. They are machine sanded, and have a more warm brown even colour, which is the wood’s natural colour.
Sanded planks can also contain some signs of the wood’s history including holes from the time in the harbour. In some cases, these wholes can be filled with a wooden plug and sanded to ensure a smoother surface.
